Fees calculator for the Court of Arbitration of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce

Before the Chamber of Commerce sends a writ for arbitration to the respondent, the plaintiff must provide a security against the foreseeable costs of the court of arbitration. The amount is based on the value in litigation and the number of arbitrators.
The value in litigation is the value in monetary terms of the matter in dispute, e.g.: the sum of money which the plaintiff is demanding from the respondent; the value of an item which the respondent is to surrender, or the amount of a loss. The number of arbitrators is normally geared to the value in litigation. The rules for arbitration provide for one arbitrator for values in litigation of below EUR 25,000.00 and three arbitrators for values in litigation above that. However, the parties can agree that in all cases only one or in all cases three arbitrators are to be appointed. For courts of arbitration with just one arbitrator, the costs of the court of arbitration and thus the amount of the security to be provided are reduced by 1/3.
The fees calculator determines the foreseeable amount of the security to be provided. However, the binding determination of the sum is reserved to the Chamber of Commerce. A definitive and detailed breakdown is provided at the end of the proceedings.
