”TechSearch–, the technology database, has been up and running since 2006 and is operated jointly with the city administration and the science and research sectors of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Companies and academics at the various universities and institutes in Hamburg and Northern Germany present themselves on this platform, outlining their fields of research and co-operation preferences. The academic side and the business side can search the stored profiles for co-operation partners in their preferred sector or for particular technologies. For companies, TechSearch makes the search for a suitable co-operation partner from the academic side easier. At TechSearch, companies find all the relevant information about research projects and contacts on a single page.

Conversely, academics can also investigate to see which subjects academic partners are researching, and which companies are putting themselves forward for joint research proposals. Entries can be supplemented with images and publications and with further references. This allows companies to see at a glance what subjects a researcher is working on. To broker co-operations in a targeted manner, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce has equipped TechSearch with a matching function. Using criteria such as sector, technology and co-operation preference, all those registered in TechSearch are informed about possible matching partners on the business or academic side. TechSearch makes the offers of co-operation and the demand transparent for business and the academic world alike.
