Hamburg Chamber of Commerce initiative to promote cultural sponsorship

The Hamburg business community has a long tradition of supporting cultural institutions and the arts. In 1998 the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce continued this tradition by launching an initiative to promote corporate citizenship in the area of arts funding. The Chamber has developed a range of measures designed to foster closer relations between businesses and cultural institutions. Our arts sponsorship initiative involves the following activities and products:

• Cultural Sponsorship Committee: a committee consisting of businesses and foundations supporting the arts, acting as advisor to the plenum on matters relating to the arts.
• "KulturMerkur": an annual award for Hamburg businesses in recognition of their contribution to cultural sponsorship.
• "Hamburger Kulturpaten": A partnership programme connecting companies and cultural organisations in order to transfer expertise.
• Art in the Chamber of Commerce: temporary exhibitions in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce gallery.
• Lunchtime-Concerts: a series of monthly concerts in the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Admission free.
